Reliable Property Management Services recently added the San Miguel III condominium complex to its portfolio. This picturesque coastal property houses 56 units and is literally steps away from the beach.

Built in 1990, San Miguel III is a gated complex with spacious floorplans and a host of desirable amenities, including a pool and two spas, in-unit laundry, assigned parking, and central air conditioning. RPMS TEAM PROFILE: MELISSA MCKAY

As we continue our team member introductions, we’d like you to meet our Executive Administrator, Melissa McKay.

A lifelong resident of San Diego county, Melissa grew up in Encinitas and attended San Diego State University. She’s watched Encinitas grow and change so much over the years and is still grateful to call this coastal city her home. A fun fact about Melissa is that she went to the same schools her three kids now attend. 

With a background in office management and administration, Melissa met RPMS CEO, John Farizell and CFO, Stephanie Peters, through the PTA at their children’s school. An active volunteer, Melissa even held the role of PTA President. It wasn’t long after RPMS was formed that John hired Melissa to help him manage the office and assist with client needs. 

Melissa now serves RPMS clients during their onboarding process as part of the transition team, as well as managing accounts payable and assisting with property management. She helps coordinate with vendors and schedule maintenance and repairs.

When Melissa isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. She also likes to cook and is having fun teaching her kids how to bake. Her family is anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new puppy.

RPMS WELCOMES NEW TEAM MEMBER, LEAH GONZALEZ

RPMS is excited to welcome a new staff member, Executive Assistant Leah Gonzalez. An Air Force veteran with a background in real estate, Leah has already proven to be a valuable addition to the RPMS team.

Leah grew up south of Seattle and joined the Air Force when she was 21. In 2005 she was deployed to Iraq where she served as an air traffic controller and also met her husband. After returning from deployment, Leah attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and earned a business degree. She spent time working for the FAA and eventually earned her real estate license, moving to San Diego in 2011.

With a desire to continue working in real estate or a related industry, Leah found RPMS and jumped at the opportunity to take on the role of executive assistant. Her background allows her to understand the business, while her time as an air traffic controller taught her to think on her feet and adapt quickly.

When she’s not working, Leah enjoys doing craft projects and painting, as well as spending time outdoors with her family on hikes, bike rides, or camping trips. She also volunteers with a cat rescue group called Saving One Life. You can check out their new first-of-its-kind cat cocktail lounge, Whiskers and Wine in University Heights. RPMS is thrilled to have Leah join the team.

RPMS TEAM PROFILE: CFO STEPHANIE PETERS

As we continue our series of team member introductions, we’d like you to meet our Chief Financial Officer, Stephanie Peters. 

Stephanie grew up as an only child in Los Angeles and attended UC Santa Barbara, where she majored in Business Economics with an Accounting emphasis. After meeting her husband and finishing school at UCSB, she returned to LA to take a position at Deloitte. Her time at Deloitte was spent in the external audit department with a focus on the real estate industry. In 2004, she transferred to the San Diego office.

About a year after her move to San Diego, Stephanie started a position as Assistant Controller for a couple of homebuilders. She continued until 2009 when she began private consulting in accounting and finance. Her consulting work was primarily special projects in the accounting and finance departments of both public and private companies, specifically focusing on company restructuring, budgets, internal controls, and operations.

In 2017, Stephanie joined RPMS as the CFO. With kids in the same school, she and John had known each other for years and volunteered in the same baseball league. She was a natural fit as CFO with her background in accounting and many years of finance expertise specific to the real estate industry.

Stephanie lives in Encinitas with her husband and two sons. She loves to travel and ski and spends her free time playing tennis and playing catch with her kids. She’s also active in the school PTA and serves on the Board of LCC Pop Warner football.

RPMS TEAM PROFILE: FOUNDER & CEO JOHN FARIZELL

As RPMS continues to grow, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce our team. We hope you enjoy getting to know our amazing staff members.

It makes sense to start at the beginning with RPMS Founder and CEO, John Farizell. With just over twenty years of experience in property management, John is a true leader who sets the tone for the entire team. As one client put it, “In an industry where so many leaders get it wrong, John always seems to get it right. He’s built a team that is passionate and cares about the work they do.”

John grew up in the Bay Area as the oldest of two siblings. After graduating from Alhambra Senior High School, he began his career in property management with a local firm. He spent the next several years learning the industry and honing his skills. John also married his wife, Noelle, and they had their first child. In 2008, they relocated to the San Diego area and eventually landed in Encinitas where they currently live with their two children.

Through the years, John continued to build his experience in property and association management until 2017 when he decided to start Reliable Property Management Services. Since its launch, RPMS has consistently grown as more and more clients experience the high standards of customer service that John maintains. The RPMS portfolio now includes over twenty-five residential and commercial associations and several large professional developments, including historic Liberty Station in Point Loma where RPMS has a satellite office to better serve its properties in the central San Diego area.

When he’s not working, John enjoys attending concerts and sporting events with his family.  He’s passionate about giving back to the community and has spent much of his free time over the years as a volunteer coach and board member for local youth sports organizations. Carrying the value of service into his business, John has led RPMS to sponsor several youth sports teams and participate in the Santee Santa’s program. You’ll currently find him coaching a 12U football team with the LCC Pop Warner program.

RPMS FOUNDER TO COACH LCCPW 12U FOOTBALL TEAM

Reliable Property Management Services Founder and CEO, John Farizell will coach a 12U football team with the La Costa Canyon Pop Warner Association for the fall 2022 season. After many years of coaching with the Friday Night Lights flag football program, John is excited about this new opportunity.

The LCC Pop Warner program launched in the early 1960s as San Dieguito Pop Warner. In 2007, the name and colors were changed to align with La Costa Canyon High School. LCC Pop Warner now serves youth football players and cheerleaders in Cardiff, Encinitas, La Costa, Leucadia, Olivenhain, and north Rancho Santa Fe. LCCPW prides itself on developing “strong, smart, responsible, healthy young men and women” through sports experiences that teach them the importance of such values as teamwork and discipline.

John has witnessed the positive impact of youth sports on his own children, as well as those on the teams he has coached. Over the years, RPMS has been a team sponsor for multiple youth sports programs, including little league, softball, and football. By giving his time and energy as a volunteer coach, John believes he can contribute to LCCPW’s mission within the community. He says, “It’s always rewarding to see kids developing their skills and love for the game, but even more so when you’re working with a program that emphasizes values like the importance of the team over the individual.”
